A VERY FESTIVE DATE NIGHT

A VERY FESTIVE DATE NIGHT1

Getting ready for their big night out, Kerrie and Ted popped into E.B. Horn to perfect her look with a few sparkly finishing touches.

When my friends at E.B. Horn reached out earlier this month to ask if I’d have any interest in playing princess for the day (A.K.A. styling a few of their gorgeous jewels) I’m pretty sure my reaction involved the breaking of a sound barrier or two. What can I say? I have a soft spot for diamonds – big ones! I also had a very special night with a very special someone at the forefront of my mind.

As a couple, Ted and I have always loved our traditions. That’s exactly why, after moving to Boston (read; that place where our least favorite season seems to drag on and on) we decided to make some new ones intended to distract us from the cold, grey days of winter. Our favorite to date? Getting all dressed up for an extremely festive date night that usually includes dinner and drinks at a local spot we’ve been dying to try before taking in a performance of holiday classic, The Nutcracker.

Getting ready for our big night out (#oldmarriedcouple) which had somehow evolved into a full-blown staycation at urban oasis, The Godfrey, this past Friday we popped into E.B. Horn where I planned on perfecting my look with a few sparkly finishing touches. Completely spoilt for choice between their massive selection of antique and contemporary goodies I must have tried on at least thirty pieces before eventually deciding on a mix of dainty diamond earrings, bracelets and rings in white and rose gold – um, is it just me or is rose gold always a good idea?

Now I know what you’re thinking; “what was her hubby doing during all this?” and the short answer is, sweating profusely! Then again, I was wearing a $25,000 necklace (and what I’m sure was a terrifyingly blissed-out smile) for the majority of our highly interactive window-shopping-sesh. Needless to say, the minute that came off Ted seemed much more relaxed. Truly getting into the spirit of things even he ended up borrowing a little something for the night which just goes to show, no one can resist the appeal of a really great jewelers.
