Make Estate-ment

PLATINUM PADPARADSCHA SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND RING

As you can probably imagine, at E.B. Horn we love jewelry. Engagement rings and diamond studs. Watches and bracelets. We love to talk gems, appraise antique jewelry and buy gold and silver. Yet, one thing we truly adore is when we acquire estate pieces that are truly unique. Many we buy from dear friends and valued customers. But, there’s nothing like finding a buried treasure (or hidden gem, if you will) that’s made its way across the globe and into our 178-year-old shop. Each year we acquire thousands of estate pieces and below we’ve listed a few of our favorites.

EB HORN ESTATE PATEK PHILIPPE NECKLACE WATCH

A One-Of-A-Kind

This one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe pendant watch contains its original diamonds, as well as an antique-style, diamond-by-the-yard chain. First purchased in Geneva on December 18, 1913, this pendant watch comes complete with an official letter from the Patek Philippe archives that dates back to 1911.

PLATINUM ESTATE PEARL & DIAMOND BAR PIN

A 19th Century Gem

Still in its original, 19th-century box from London, this platinum bar pin features a natural pearl center, old mine cut and rose cut diamonds.

EB HORN 14KT AND SILVER DIAMOND AND RUBY PENDANT

A Natural Burma Ruby

For centuries, Mogok Valley in present day Burma was the world’s leading ruby mine. But, in recent years, very few good rubies have been found there. However, this diamond and ruby pendant features a rare, AGL certified, 19th-century natural Burmese ruby.

EB HORN PLATINUM DIAMOND AND SAPPHIRE PANSY PIN

An Oscar Heyman

This estate pansy pin is signed by Oscar Heyman, one of the finest and most extraordinary jewelers in the world, and comes with a letter of authenticity. In addition to 53 individually cut blue sapphires, the pin also contains 56 fine-quality white diamonds and one natural canary yellow diamond.

platinum padparadscha sapphire diamond ring

A Rare Salmon Colored Sapphire

For centuries, Padparadscha sapphires were believed to be exclusive to Sri Lanka, but some experts say the rare gemstone can also be found in parts of Madagascar and Tanzania. But the word on Washington Street is E.B. Horn has two.
